Hi everyone,

I'm going to start off by saying, I am a NEWBIE to Debian/Linux. So please bare with me.
My distro btw is the unofficial sarge release of Debian 3.1 64-bit for AMD64. Kernel version: 2.6.8-11-amd64-k8

I've been wanting to install debian on my R3230CA laptop for a two week and nothing seems to be going right at all.

I want to get my wireless internet working first so I can get my apt-get working first.

I've been following the instructions given here:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Installation

So far I've installed ndiswrapper and the 64-bit broadcom drivers.

So when I type:

ndiswrapper -l

I get:

Installed ndis drivers:
netbc564 driver present, hardware present

OK cool.

But when I try to load the module with:

modprobe ndiswrapper

I get:

ndiswrapper: version magic '2.6.8-11-amd64-k8 gcc-3.3' should be '2.6.8-11-amd64-k8 gcc-3.4
FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.8-11-amd64-k8/misc/ndiswrapper.ko): Invalid module format

Can anyone help me make sense of this? I really do want to be a permanent linux user, but this is just really driving me nuts.

P.S. Without my wireless I have absolutely no way to connect to the internet because I think something is wrong with my NIC card physically. So I can't use apt-get unless the packages are on the 2 DVD's.
