Oh!  What about the S-Video out...does it still function properly?  If
it doesn't experience the same problem you could use a TV for a
monitor or an s-video to vga adapter

What about accessing the laptop via X or VNC on another machine?

I don't know if this thing would work with linux...maybe there's

What about the docking station port...could it be that it accesses the
graphics display in a way that isn't damaged/defective?
