As you point out, this system has separate video RAM.  I don't know
what its configuration is.  So I don't know what the strip width says
about it.

You are right.  I forgot that.

The rest of your message suggests that either video memory or some
memory bus (including the tranceivers) is not working properly.

There ought to be a video buffer memory test, but I don't know where
to find one.  nVidia's site does not seem to offer one.

Does anyone have a spec sheet for this video chip?  The best
description I could find was in this review:
