RIGHT! Did this and no more error messages for the CoreMIDI input processes.

Yes (routine). 

I finally managed to get sound when (following James Wylder's advice from two 
years ago) starting up Pete Yandell's MIDI Patchbay and connecting the MIDI 
input to linuxsampler. 

One nice feature is that you can channel numerous gig files to one MIDI output.

Benno, I also briefly tried your MIDI file on linuxsampler in Linux...would you 
like a "top" readout for this ?
