Over the weekend I finally installed Endian's (http://www.endian.com) Community edition of their firewall. I have been using Smoothwall for quite a while and enjoyed it, but Endian is in my opinion much better. I have also used m0n0wall and pfsense. m0n0wall was missing a lot of features, and pfsense was overkill in just about every department (for my needs at home). It wasn't until I install Endian as the actual firewall for my network that I got the full experience of the features, having it behind Smoothwall in a VM just didn't cut it, but a virtual machine will let you get a feel for it. Linux.com has an article about their latest release of 2.2 RC2, http://www.linux.com/feature/147054
