J-walking is illegal. People still do it.

You should, its a pretty darn handy phone.

I am torn on the issue. I will buy Apple products despite their
attempts to tell me how to use things.

I'm going to use things however I'm going to use them. Period. I'm not
of the nature that I have to hack everything I buy. Sometimes I just
want things to work (KISS) and other times I want it to do what I need
it to do.

I love my iPhone for the most part. Have some coverage issues in a few
spots/dropped calls other then that its great. For me its a KISS
device. its not my primary email client, but when i need to get an
email I can use it. Same with accessing a website. My iPhone is also
why I have not yet purchased a netbook.

These limitations that Apple has put into place are nothing new. This
has been a catch22 for Apple for many years. The reason their stuff
works so well is that they lock out everyone. Only allowing what they
know to work. The down side of that is that it severely crippled their
adoption in the market for many years. Microsoft on the other hand let
everyone and their mom make a modem and of course that's why there
were so many crappy modems for Windows. That's why I like Linux/FOSS.
Its the middle ground between the two. Anyone can make "X" and others
have access to the code so that they can improve upon it.
