For my personal stuff I feel pingdom is a bit high, but having checks coming
from multiple continents is something that would be costly for you to
implement, and I don't think many other companies do it.  For the business
package it works out to be $1.30 per day, if you have an employee making
$40/hr that is 2 minutes of their time, time easily spent reading over a
half assed uptime reporting that could be setup to save from paying pingdom.
 To have someone build even the reporting would cost quite a bit more than a
years worth of service.  So while there is some shock from the price I feel
it is easily justifiable, especially for a business.
