Hey folks... a really useful utility you may be interested in is
"aria2c". (available in most repos)

http://aria2.sourceforge.net/

Think of it as wget, with the added benefit of being able to
simultaneously download a single file from multiple sources and even
multiple protocols. e.g. HTTP, FTP, BitTorrent.

For example, the following command will download the same file from
the following three URL's, with 5 connections made to each server,
useful for getting around per-connection QoS policies.

aria2c -s 15 http://server1/file.iso ftp://server2/file.iso
http://server3/file.iso

The file is downloaded extremely fast and is amalgamated into a single
file. If the download is interrupted, it can also be resumed.

I used it this morning and downloaded each ISO from about 6 mirrors in
under 10 minutes, and I didn't have to worry about firewall rules
which prevent BitTorrent.
