I think you can use the bg command, but then you may need to run a cron job to 
check kalarm, and
see if there is either a return from kalarm or it has an answer, like:

if kalarm return=true
or
ifkalarm messege=true
then fg

or to check the time logs for kalarm and do an fg 1 minute before the kalarm 
goes off

I will see if I can come up with a script, or probably someone on the list can 
do it off the top
of their head.
