My gut feeling... if the drive can be rescued at all it'll be through 
one of those drive rescue companies.

Even without partition tables on the drive, it should be possible to 
find directory files through the drive, since they're only files.

Finding those, a good rescue company should be able to find many files.

Only an educated guess, though; while I've heard lots of good things 
about those companies, I've never tried one.
