What does that have to do with them releasing some piece of code
for everyone to enjoy? A small one too. If they decide to turn around
and join some of the efforts, I think that is a good thing for the
community.

What's wrong with that rant? I fail to see a problem in someone ranting
about not being paid for many many hours of hard work. Nobody works
for free.
