Why do you have to reboot?  We've only ever had to reboot for kernel updates, 
and similarly to many webhosting companies, we don't update to a new kernel 
just because it's there.

We sometimes reboot for convenience (easier after library updates than to 
figure out exactly what is using which library) but even then actual reboots 
are more like every six months (sometimes longer).

We do have short service downtimes for restart at the end of a service update, 
but that's neither as long nor as impacting as a reboot.

It does.  We're going to look at them before the first of the year, when we're 
going to add VPS hosting to our mix (we're moving more and more to reselling 
others, with our value add; at age 65 I'm interested in not having to maintain 
a datacenter much longer).
