Thanks Randall.  I've decided to not do this for the moment; some time 
yesterday Firefox started working the way it used to work; what I call the 
"right way", all by itself.  I didn't restart anything.  These sorts of things 
drive me crazy <smile>.

I'm sorry I didn't have to write earlier.
