I have been using Linux for 14 years (probably for less years than most people in this mailing list). My main machine is a Mac and I love it. It is probably that I hate having to figure out why my Bluetooth, sound or vnc or bonjour (avahi) services stopped working after an update. I can always fix those right away, I just hate having to figure it out. I shouldn't have to.
So my apple tax is really minor when you take into account the amount of time I waste when something, randomly, stops working. wget? if you really need it, sudo fink install wget from the terminal. Of course, this is after the great hassle of double clicking on the fink installer. >> > Date: Wed, 9 Feb 2011 21:32:47 -0600 > From: Chris Penn <cantorm...@gmail.com> > Subject: Re: [LinuxUsers] apples? > To: SoCal LUG Users List <linuxusers@socallinux.org> > Message-ID: > <AANLkTikgKSMH6EJ=ugxrk-qdkpharc3m9qsjwahwg...@mail.gmail.com> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 > > If you do not have the time to learn Linux and you have a lack of > Linux friends to help you, OSX is a good option; OSX is a far better > choice than Windows. > > I know how to use Linux and so OSX is pointless.
