Just discovered MTR today. http://www.bitwizard.nl/mtr/
Put in an IP, and it traceroutes it and then continuously pings the IP addresses with a % loss beside each hop. (Installing it on OS X via Macports was really easy. Not sure if it's in the other distros.)
