I have received an inquiry about converting PDF to spreadsheet.
Specifically, the request stated convert PDF to MS-Excel then put in database,
which I expect will mean either CSV or spreadsheet, then probably MS-Access.
I will have to find out more about the source PDFs - are they scans or
export of some not-available softcopy; do they contain tables structurally
or only visibly.
My search queries so far come up with Closed software for MS-Windows and
sometimes Mac, online services (will ask if that is acceptable, and/or
level of confidentiality etc.), maybe OpenOffice/KOffice,
and maybe an API library. [links below]
Questions - Has anyone on list:
* converted PDF to spreadsheet/CSV and can comment on what worked well
(and/or did not work);
* any information on any PDF-to-spreadsheet/CSV utility that will run on Linux
and/or is Free/Open; and/or
* used a programming library that reads/parses PDF (not only write/output) -
e.g. maybe PdfClown;
