Well, I imagine they're pursuing money in this fashion largely because of the 
way the media has portrayed hackers in the past. It's extremely disappointing. 

And it's not so much that you don't need to crack "legitimate software" (a 
class to which free software most certainly belongs) to avoid paying for 
software, but you don't need to attack people in order to get code to learn 
from.
