Can I assume that you are going to use Kubuntu-12.04 ? Not sure whether youre talking about Sandy-Bridge or Ivy-Bridge (or other); with Ubuntu-10.04/Sandy-Bridge, I had to install the backport Oneiric kernel and the glasen-ppa Xorg driver, after which it was stable (50 days uptime with weekly hibernate).
