Hmmm... OK, in your first post, you said you moved the folder with amsn in
it.  Did you install amsn as root? Or did you do it as a normal user (did
you use sudo?)

Can you put the folder back where it was originally installed?  That might
help.  Also, try running 'package remove amsn' without the sudo and see if
you get different results.

If you don't mind extra files (or have given up trying to control them), you
can just leave the old amsn installation alone (it will clutter things up &
I can't guarantee that nothing in it will interfere with the apt-get
installed one), but installing through apt should work even if you don't
first remove the autopackage version (esp. if it's not working)
