Chipset in that thing is Intel 945G which employs the Intel HD Audio. You can verify by doing
lspci -v | grep -i audio Should say Intel Corp & HD audio in the resulting spew Googling about a bit there seems to be a fair amount of chatter about Alsa and Intel HD audio.
