I am using using gnome.
When I work with the terminal, I thought this might be the konsole
(sorry if I'm wrong).
With the mouse I clicked /home/my-username/Desktoüp - files and folders
appeared.
I tried to drag files to the Desktop, nothing happened.
It seems as would the screen be blocked.

** By the way - I started another try over the main menu for the system.
There I activated all fields for settings and the operations control. **
The result: All files and folders appeared on the desktop-screen.
But: In the terminal /home/my-username/Desktop/ some files ends now with
".desktop" - e.g. gnome-terminal.desktop or thunderbird.desktop.

Conclusion: Problem solved (see above **), but I can't say exactly which
bottom brought the effect.

Thanks for your trying to help me.
Till next time, bye

Best regards
