Well, RHEL server will not have the most recent kernel, so diver support may be lacking. Any reason you're trying to run a server OS on your laptop?
Try something more suited, like SuSE, Mandriva, Ubuntu, Mint, or Fedora. (Fedora will behave the most like RHEL if you have experience already).
