I hope people have read his problem correctly. Or have they?

He mentioned he changed permissions to the /lib directory and later his
ubuntu won't boot with an error message "cant access system libraries" .

What I was asking was why in hell did he change the /lib directory's
permissions? I can't see any practically good reason to do that.

To the original poster, boot to an ubuntu live CD, examine the live CD's
/lib permissions, mount the hard drive, and navigate to the partition's root
directory and change the permissions back similar to the one on the live
CD's /lib permissions.

I don't need to tell you how to do that step by step.
