if you only want to know what programming programs it has, you can do it without installing. Just go to the website of a particular distro and check out their package list.
What type of programming language are you particularly interested in anyway? You can do virtually any programming work on Linux. You can program on linux with the following languages: - c / c++ - java - ruby - python - perl - php - assembly - lua - and lots more... this list is not exhaustive, far from it. merely an example.
