Hi all...

I just took up a social service work for my school when my principal
requested me to set up a proxy server for them.

The earlier server was built using Debian OS Kernel 2.4. It is still in use
but the hardware is pretty old. So, I took this opportunity to pay back my
alma mater.

I installed CentOS 4.3 (oh yes, I know I bitched abt it.. )

No one knows exactly how the current server is configured. Thus, I had to
take note of things myself. Most of the config stuff were not found where it
was meant to be. Also, the earlier sys admin or whoever, hardened this
server by getting rid of chkconfig, /sbin/service, reboot, fdisk -l (output
is null) and so on. But from what I could gather it put it as follows:

Web Server (windows)
Also Data storing (remote)

Proxy Server (I'm working on)
Also intranet webserver

Local Clients (LAN clients Win98/XP) About 25 clients

IP: 203.94.198.xx
S.net: /24 (255.255.255.0)
GW: a. 203.94.198.136
        b. 192.168.2.250
Just 1 LAN Card and 2 Gateways.
Has dedicated IP and connects to internet through the proxy server.
Accessed by remote centre to dump data. This data accessed by local clients
by Windows file sharing.

eth0
IP: 203.94.198.xx
S.net: /24
DNS: 203.94.xx.xx
eth0:0
IP: 192.168.2.250
S.net: /24
eth1: (connect to cisco router)
IP: 192.168.1.2
S.net: /24
GW: 192.168.1.1
squid -- on
httpd -- on
named -- off
smb -- off (on request)

All are Windows clients. Some win98 and some winxp.
IP calss of 192.168.2.xx
subnet= 255.255.255.0

Should be able to access internet and also the shared drive on Webserver
machine.

These are the 3 main inter connecting machines or set of machines.

Webserver managed by . .ehh.. i guess direct-i and it has dedicated ipaddr
just
like the proxy server i have configured.

This webserver runs on windows.. and it has couple of drives shared for
access by clients.

Now, branches of this school across india sends updated reports to this
server and it is stored on the shared drive. This drive needs to be
accessed by machines on LAN. These clients are connected to proxy server
by ip class of 192.168.2.xx whereas the webserver is 203.xx.xx.xx something
with
subnet of 255.255.255.0 ..

webserver is also routed thru the proxy server but with dedicated
ip.. (thats what is told to me)

The issue that i am facing is that the
LAN clients aren't able to do file sharing amongst themselves and with
the main shared drive on the webserver! How do i get the webserver with
different

ip class on local file sharing with clients at calss C ip?

You will see that win Webserver has two gateways.. one is that of the
squid proxy server.

Proxy is running fine... but Local Clients are not able to access shared
folder on Webserver.

How do i make it possible?
Any one who has idea what needs to be done?

It would be a great help..

thanks in advance
~ anup
