Edit the custom error page you have created and add the following lines at the end: <HTML><ADDRESS> Generated %T </ADDRESS></HTML> This will remove the squid version and also the hostname from your error page. Note that this is just a cosmetic change. If your auditors are smart they can still get the version of squid from your http headers. So in effect, there is no point in removing the version.
