hi,

logon to single usermode, (or type root password when it prompted for
maintenance)

type command: df -h
check your /usr mounted on, note the filesystem(eg. /dev/hdc2 )

open /etc/fstab
enter there
/dev/hdc2  /usr

now reboot it should work..

your fstab may not be pointing to correct filesystem thats why the problem
