hi, can you explain exactly how you are connecting to the ftp server? which client.. the method in general.
Also, try the diagnostic check : telnet <server-ip> 21 If this returns a positive connection, then your server is accepting connection. You can check from server side also.. netstat -pantu |grep ":21" it should show a line : 0.0.0.0:21 ........ listening it means your FTP server is up and is ready to accept connections. Also check squid.conf for the list of ports allowed. Check is port 21 and 20 are allowed in it. regards! --- In [email protected], "kanak.agarwal" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > i am facing a problem working with squid and m not able to solve the > problem dis > > i have configured a squid server and sharing internet to my users.. > whenever i try to open ftp sites.. it comes with a error > > > "An FTP authentication failure occured while trying to retrive the URL > Squid send the following FTP command: > PASS <yourpassword> > and then received this reply > Login incorrent. > Your cache administrator is root." > > and > > "The requested URL could not be retrieved > > An FTP authentication failure occurred while trying to retrieve the > URL: > ftp://209.200.85.30/ > Squid sent the following FTP command: > > PASS <yourpassword>and then received this reply > > Sorry, no ANONYMOUS access allowed.Your cache administrator is root. > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > ---------- > > Generated Thu, 10 Jan 2002 19:59:39 GMT by localhost.localdomain > (squid/2.6.STABLE6) " > > i tried to resolve it and after doing a little googling i was able to > read about some tags which should be enabled for ftp access through > squid. > > they were ftp_user, acl FTP proto ftp and then allowing it as > always_direct. > i also tried ftp_access myaclname allow > > played a little bit wid iptables also.. and at last i was able to > open anonymous ftp websites.. but when it comes to non-anonymous > websites which required id and password to open.. i am getting same > error again and again. > > hope you will help me and tell me where i was going wrong > > thanks a lot. > > kanak >
