It's not a feature yet.  It could be a bug if no one maintains it late on :).

Przemo, I've assigned the feature request to you, along with another
mapping related request and a few key mapping issues.

It's up to you to convince the other "stubborn" person so we get the
feature supported.  I don't feel bad if we (you and me :) don't win
the "battle".  More than three years without a supporter does show me
how unimportant the feature is.
