Thank you for the two patches. I'll incorporate them into -10. Let's
give the group a few days to test it for us. Can you also inform the
Ubuntu forum so we get a broader feedback?

If no one sees the crash after applying Bastian's patchset any more, I
am afraid we'll have to leave the spinlock calls out until we can
prove that they are needed.  I do understand your concern and I am
very grateful that you take this project so serious.

As always, my rule is: the majority wins until the outstanding one
proves it otherwise :).
