If no one sees the crash after applying Bastian's patchset any more, I am afraid we'll have to leave the spinlock calls out until we can prove that they are needed. I do understand your concern and I am very grateful that you take this project so serious. As always, my rule is: the majority wins until the outstanding one proves it otherwise :).
