i am not sure if it only happens to me, as i have not seen any other problem like my own discused anywhere.
I have a graphire 3. The problem is, when the pen gets to the very edge of the marked active area (the rectangle) on the tablet, the cursor sticks to the edge, because the moment the pen goes beyond the rectangle, the driver ignores further movement. That means that to be able to "click" with the pen at a pixel at the very edge of the screen, I need to make sure that the pen points exactly at the very edge of the rectangular area on the tablet that maps to the screen edge. this is particularly frustrating when i want to move the cursor to a corner of the screen. The reason this is an issue for me is that I initially used my wacom in windows, back when i had no knowledge of linux. In windows, when the pen tip goes beyond the edge of the rectangle (the active area), the pen is still detected by the wacom driver up to about 1/2 inch away from the edge. This means that it is very easy to hit the edges of the screen; you can just sort of "ram" the pointer into the edge, or the corner, sort of like with a mouse, and it is very easy to traverse the screen edges. It doesnt matter if you go beyond the rectangle (within 1/2 inch). In linux, however, because of what I have described, the edges of the screen are kind of "sticky"--the cursor will get stuck at the edge whenever the pen tip goes beyond the edge, even by just a very small amount. Even if you dont have windows, you can see for yourself that the tablet still detects the pen beyond the rectangle--if you press the pen tip within 1/2 inch beyond said rectangle, you will see that the light on the wacom becomes green. I would think the this was intentionally made so by wacom. Sort of a Fitt's law thing or something like that. Sorry about the length of the post, but I wanted to make sure I was not misunderstood. Does anyone know of a solution for this? ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
