That sounds like the X-server has not /really/ opened the inputX-device but it gets the movment of the pen from the mice-device. I have also a Volito 2, but my screen is 1400x1050. If I force X to not use the inputX-specific device for my tablet the edges of the screen will move around on the tablet and the tablet is approx 30% larger than my screen. Sounds like your case? Or is it the opposite (the tablet can't reach all of your screen)? Check the log for X (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) after related lines and see if it fails to open your tablet (lines containing wacom, stylus, and the device in your configuration). When I use inputX as input for my tablet I've had problems with getting X to open my tablet if I plug it in after I've started X. Usually I'll have to completely restart X (not just log out) in these cases. Remeber, if you have the tablet working and unplug/replug the tablet, X will also have to close the device and if you want it to work 'properly' again you'll have to switch VT (usually ctrl-alt-F1 and alt-F7).
