Thanks Magnuson,
That link to *newwacom must be out of date because that stuff is already 
in my
/etc/udev (on this machine it's called "60-wacom.rules" )file so I added 
/dev/input/wacom to my xorg file and still I get the crawling error message.

The problem I have with trial and error configuration is the pretty soon 
my stomach hurts and nothing works anymore.

Does anyone out there have a working intuos* on fc6?
