Hi,

the problem seems to be related to the relative mode. I have the same
problem with stylus and cursor, but still haven't got any
answer/solution to it. Does your mouse pointer start moving only in
vertical and horizontal lines too, when moving with a speed just a bit
above "slowly"? 
In older versions of the driver, i had a annoying jitter instead of this
"motionless" pointer, so it could be about supressing.  But playing
around with 'Option "Suppress" "10"' in xorg.conf didn't seem to change
anything.
The only workaround i know, is switching the devices to absolute mode.
