A friend gave my wife a large serial tablet a while back, (GD-1212-R)
because said friend had gone Mac and couldn't use it anymore. However
recently her desktop machine died, and we replaced it with a "legacy
free" laptop. (eMachines m6805) I figured no problem, I can just get a
USB serial adapter. Just as I was about to roll the dice and get the
cheapest one I could find, I found this:
http://www.wacom.com/faqs/knowledge_search.cfm?id=185

Wacom claims there's bandwidth and latency problems. But they only refer
to Macintosh. Is this just typical Apple braindeadness/FUD/strongarm
tactics? Apparently there's a third party driver for OSX that works just
fine: http://thinkyhead.com/tabletmagic/

I can't find any reference to anyone trying this in Linux so I figured
I'd stop and ask first. Has anyone actually tried this, and does it
work/not work? Is a $5 hong kong special likely to work in Linux or do I
need to get something decent?
