When executing the ./install script it says "You need to compile and
install wacom.(k)o manually if your kernel is out of date". Okay, but which
kernel versions _are_ out of date? Is there a list or something or are all
kernels not listed in /src/ in the archive out of date?
I myself use Ubuntu Edgy with kernel 2.6.17-10 btw.

We don't have a list of tablets supported by each kernel versions since
there are too many of them if you consider dash releases. You can always
tell if your tablet is supported by the wacom kernel driver on your system
or not by checking the details listed at
http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/howto/testtablet.

And once I write I'll something more about the new beta:

1. What needs to be done after executing the script the first time, if you
have a (wacom) clean system? Just editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf and eventually
set a udev rule for /dev/input/wacom? (Asking this cause I one wrote a
german tutorial for the driver at www.gimpforum.de which perhaps needs to
be edited.)

Yes, you need to modify /etc/X11/xorg.conf before reboot the system if this
is the first time you install Wacom driver . Sorry I didn't mention it in
my last email.

And what about you don't have a clean system and an older version installed
already? Anything to be removed manually?

No need to clean your system. If you would like to, you can run ./uninstall
before ./install. This will remove any possible files/programs related to
Wacom X driver.

2. Will there be any major differences between the prebuilt and selfcompiled
drivers?

No. But, some users may have to build the driver and programs on their
systems to make their tablets work properly. This has happened before.
