I think I've solved my problem another way round, even though I haven't
tested it for a longer timespan (so it might still be flawed).

But here is what I did for the X60t Lenovo laptop (on Ubuntu feisty with
home-grown kernel):

- Compile serial_core and 8250 as modules.
- Set the following parameter in /etc/default/acpi-support:
  MODULES="8250 serial_core"
- Add a file to /etc/acpi/resume.d named 40-setserial.sh with the
  following content:
  /bin/setserial /dev/ttyS0 port 0x0200 irq 5 autoconfig

Yes I think that's it. Maybe this is suited for the HOWTO sec. 12.6.
I'll be back if it doesn't work out.
