Ah, key phrase. "Your users." Which implies acquisition, voluntary or not.

Is it worse to include a contractor's phone number and a description
of their business in your flyer about home repair WITH or WITHOUT
telling the contractor that you are advertising their services? We
seem to treat the net differently, but use the analogy of those things
you get in your physical mailbox instead - advertising agencies just
don't go around telling you about other people's offerings. I'm not
sure the average contractor would be offended, as most list owners
are not offended, but what if the mailed flyer said all contractors
had ASKED to be included? Wouldn't that be false advertising?

But the west is just the far far far east! (grin)

Anyway, who cares if anyone gets 100% buyoff? It's just common courtesy
to tell someone they've been included as material in a website you are
making money from. Let them know that they've been added, and don't
say it's opt-in when it's really opt-out, and this thread can die.

If you maintain that it's opt-in, the website clearly isn't what you say it is.
