wasn't that sort of the point of the discussion? A lack of any real 
standard here? but in any event, list-id is the proposed solution to 
this.

And secondarily, maybe it's just me, but I don't see this as a big 
thing. So I have to tweak a filter when I sign up to a mail list... 
List-ID will help automate that, if I want to.
