Karen, If you are looking for an easy way to get DB data (SQL server/DB2/Oracle/Access) data to your mobile community check out http://www.ezmobilizer.com. It is a CF app that acts as a bridge between DB data and wireless devices (WAP phones, Palm 7, Palms w/modems, WinCE, PocketPC, etc...). You configure the DB data you want available once and it is available to all devices. FYI: Yes, I have to admit, this is a shameless plug. I was one of the developers on the product. :-) Thanks, Scott "Karen Harker" <Karen.Harker@UTSouthwe To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> stern.edu> cc: Sent by: Subject: Mobile Web sites [EMAIL PROTECTED] g 05/03/01 09:54 AM Please respond to list Who has had experience with making their site(s) usable by the mobile community? We are beginning to discuss if and how we would do this. After much reading and scouring, I've found out that cell phones & PDAs browse the Web differently (cell phones use WAP/WML and PDAs use either microbrowsers or Web clipping services, right?). While we will be conducting a survey to determine mobile Web usage by our clients, I'm pretty sure that our community includes more PDA Web users than cell phone Web users. Do y'all have any opinions on the direction of mobile Web usage? Is the standard way of browsing the Web using PDAs going to shift to WAP/WML? Is Palm going to go the microbrowser route, rather than clippings? Also, I noticed that AvantGo has a client-side app that converts standard Web pages into readable form, at least for Windows-based PDAs. Is there a server-side app that would serve converted pages on the fly? Finally, what are some good sites for Web development for PDA-versions? Mostly what I see are WAP and PDA application development (non-Web).
