Hi everyone,
We are in the early stages of looking for an upgrade to our
current Access database. Yes, I know. Access is slow. We only handle a
small amount of data, but performance is becoming a problem. Some of our
tables have 15,000 records, but that is the largest so far. We are
anticipating breaking 30,000 records per table soon though.
My question is, for a 2-person IS department at a very small
company, should we upgrade to SQL? Is there another database short of
Oracle (remember, only 2 people) that would require less setup? I am
also concerned about migration. If I set up new datasources in CF, could
I copy my macros into SQL? Or, would I be better pursuing another route?
I know everyone has a favorite database, so please let me know
the pros and cons.
Thanks,
Brian Thomas
