Well, not being a
board member, maybe my opinion doesn't mean much but, I would have to disagree.
While we wouldn't want to go hardcore on ASP or other technologies, I don't see
any reason why talking about technologies as they relate to CF wouldn't be
appropriate. I participate in other lists and many times other
technologies are talked about. When they go on too long or get way off base, we
as members and moderators should get things back on track but that should be
about it. In some situations developers may need the help of the
collective brain this list provides and we don't always get to use CF, so some
reference for how another technology works like CF is helpful. Again
as long as it has some relevance to CF, as I believe this one did,
then it's for the greater good. If Macromedia would impose some sort of
sanction on the group (doubtful!) for having OT discussions, then we should
wonder about their intentions. This is a very good and effective group and
sometimes the quickest way to get an answer. Lets not get bogged down by
worrying about a company that would not exist with out us.
