All the OCR activity would happen on the back-end - no need to install anything on the client's machine.

Right, I want to avoid installing any OCR software on clients PC's. I wasn't sure if there was a way to do this. Bascailly, on-the-fly OCR? The client would scan the form and via a upload template send the file to the server. When they are done uploading all their files for the day they would click a "index" button which would send the files from the repository to another directory where the images are stored. At that time they are indexed (info saved to a database the user keys in like invoice#, company etc). At the same time the image (.jpg, gif, or pdf) would be OCR'd for future searching. Would the below COM object do this OCR part? > The most cost-effective > solution would be to find a third-party product (like a COM object) that > you can call from CF. OK...would you be able to point me to COM object that would do this? > > ************************** > Billy Cravens > Web and Software consulting > www.Architechx.com > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:list-request@;dfwcfug.org] On > Behalf Of FlashGuy > Sent: Tuesday, October 29, 2002 9:48 AM > To: FlashMX > Subject: Your thoughts on a project > > > I have the opportunity to develop a database project on the side. > > The customers will be uploading and indexing graphic files (invoices, > shipping etc).
