(Hello friends: for those of you who didn't know, I am a Legal Intern with the Drug
Policy Alliance, working for free mainly to keep SF underground alive, kicking, and
rocking! Please circulate to all relevant communities, apologies for repeat posts.

“KNOW YOUR RIGHTS”

The DEA has already begun to enforce the RAVE Act and the effects of such are already
beginning to affect everyone! Do your part to prevent enforcement of the RAVE Act in
unjust and unfair manners by contributing your suggestions.

The Drug Policy Alliance is in the process of compiling “Know Your Rights”
resources and information for individuals like you to use and refer to if you have an
encounter with the police. This project is in conjunction with our efforts to help
combat unfair enforcement of the recently passed RAVE Act.

We are currently collecting insights and thoughts from those in our local and national
music communities who attend parties/concerts/political events, including DJs,
musicians, artists of all genres, promoters, et cetera, about what you desire to know
regarding your rights in police encounters.

If you would like to assist the Drug Policy Alliance in helping to clarify your rights
when confronted by the police, please respond with some specific questions or requests
for information that you would like to see answered in an easy-to-digest format,
readily available to communities around the nation much like yours. (Some examples
include: ‘Do I have the right to resist search by cops?’ or ‘Do I have the right
to know why I am being arrested?’)
