There's a difference between sticking to the RFC's, and being an
ass-backward fool... This is heading towards the latter.
As an option, it would be okay... "/set stuffy_host_patching on"
As a manditory "feature", it's definately arse-backward-ness...
For the simple reason (if none other) that there are plenty of
"almost" RFC-compliant servers out there. ConferenceRoom is a prime
example. It does some seriously screwy things to complicate people's
lives, and if memory serves me correctly, actually states that it's not
totally RFC compliant. The clinet should be flexable enough to handle
screwy servers, not so overly restrictive that we can't use it on
them. Any time an RFC rule is enforced, there should be a reasonably
obvious way around it if at all possible - in case of emergency.
That's my $2.20 on the matter...
