Glad you asked ~J (Congrats, by the way!  And make sure she stays away from the resin dust when you are making the kits!  Toxic stuff.)

As for the modeling compound, it's poly putty, much like Bondo that the use on cars.  You can get really high on that stuff if you are not careful.  I almost cut my fingers off years ago without realizing that the stuff was so strong.

Oh my, good advice on the dust, thank you!  I had no idea it was that bad....
 
Well I have a 1/144 Nightingale, a 1/6 Scale RX-78 Gundam-Girl, a large scale Big-O kit, a JUMBO scale Giant Robo kit and I believe Takkong the Oil Monster from Ultraman Jack and the funny-red-moster with Skeletal hands that Red-King always beats-up-on from the original Ultraman.
 
Yeah, it looks like I will be doing this in the garage....
