Well then perhaps you didn't know FvZ (and perhaps AvT (GvZ) too?)
started life as coin-op arcade games.  Some aspects of these games
seem more like Virtua Fighter than combat sims, right?  To me the most
laughable thing is that when you or your partner dies, the replacement
MS is dropped instantaneously in the spot where you died and action
continues as if nothing had happened.

Although I did not know at the time, when FvZ was released back in 2003, that it was actually an arcade game at first, I did learn its origin about a year ago when GvZG was in the works. Needless to say, it explained a lot of things to me.

Without finishing the second missions of J2J and ZF, let me take gues
why you like them.  They are (almost) real combat sim right?  I didn't
like them enough to play more than 1 mission, but I respect that they
are combat sims.  If I were more hard core, I'd get over the learning
curve.

Indeed, it was EXACTLY the fact that it was a third person combat simulator that made me love the game. Granted, that learning curve meant HOURS of frustration until I got to the point where I could progress in the game. The RGM-79SP is so very schweet in that game! :D

EiS... just annoys the hell out of me.  It's not a combat sim, it's
not a fighting game, it's ... kind of a crazy weird rail shooter.

Indeed, it is not a true combat sim, although I kinda saw it as a "sequal" of sorts to J2J, as the 0079 missions begin where J2J left off, iirc.

I wouldn't mind if there is a Gundam that plays a bit like the old
Mech Warrior games.  Another game I'd like to see is the Armored Core
play mechanism tried on Gundam.

Well, there was Gundam 0079: Rise From the Ashes for Dreamcast. I never got to play the game, as I never had a Dreamcast, but my friend rented it once, and I got to play with it for a bit... I still regret to this day not getting a Dreamcast and that game, as I have not seen another first-person Gundam combat sim to this day.
