Yeah... it's quite possible. Both Z and V have flaws and it's easy
for any particular viewer to focus on the either the positive or the
negative aspects. The wheeled battleships are stupid, the wheeled MS
are stupid, many of the villians are laughable and the death parades
did get cheesy for many episodes. But under all that, Usso, Shakti,
Queen Maria were three solid legs of the moral tripod in V, and this
part also persisted to two other series that I like: Wing (Heero,
Relena taking double duty) and Turn-A (Loran, Kihel, Queen Dianna).

Ahh... you see I didn't mind the deaths. I like V despite the death
parade, I like Turn-A not because of the low body count. And I
dislike Zeta not because of the high body count. Did I mention I like
the second half of ZZ too? I can't even remember if ZZ had high or
low body count.

So just by lowering the morbidity isn't going to do it for me. Mind
you I am not judging Zeta movies yet, I am rewatching Z TV now to see
if I might revise my opinion. (considering I even extended NGE a
second viewing, Z should deserve it too)
