Xabungle Chronicle©2004 Futabasha2000yen208pages (8 color)8.25in x 6'inhttp://www.hlj.com/product/FTB29697 (not necessarily a HLJ endorsement, just if you wanted to see the cover)Itching for something more than Entertainment Bible no.18 for my Tomino Library I picked up this little book. The first half is the requisite line art. The second half covers the series development, episode guide, a glossary, interviews, the Xabungle movie and a list of goods. Pretty standard anime book stuff. I'm kinda disappointed that they chose to use their few color pages on an interview with Tomino, instead of color art.Xabungle Perfect Establishment Data©2005 Studio DNA2500yen ($35.00 at Kinokuniya bookstore)144pages (16 color)12in x 8.5inSo, after I bought the previous Xabungle book, I stumble upon this one--far better suited to someone like me who can't read Japanese and would rather ogle a lot of cool art. It's from the publisher of the great L.Gaim Materials book I reviewed a few years back. Essentially, it's a big book of line art, with limited text. The book starts out with 5 pages of color art, promotional materials, OST cover art, etc. Next, 3 color pages of the mecha. There are 65 pages of mecha line art, about 25 pages of character art, and another 25 devoted to the environments, buildings, small arms, landscapes etc. Interestingly, there are 6 pages devoted to the development of the recent Soul of Chogokin, Xabungle toy. Finally, the book ends with 8 colors pages reproducing the plastic model box art, which are rather nice.So there you go, 2 recent Xabungle books. Make your choice. If you want a bunch of Japanese background text with the line art, go with the Xaungle Chronicle book, if you just want the art, (and printed in a larger size as well) go with Xabungle Perfect Establishment Data.
I got the Xabungle Roman Album but I'm interested in the second book. Is there any artwork out of the development phrase? I got some from Izubichi's book but I crave for more.
