Looks like an interesting display technology searching desperately for a viable application. If it's a conventional arcade, ultimately it's just yet another iteration of FvZ. I was playing a Mech Warrior game in Chucky Cheese (sorry if you spit coffee all over your keyboard). I wasn't expecting much in a place aimed at 1-10 yr olds. But it's a shaky bubble cockpit thingie so I just had to try it. After a five yr old girl finally vacated the cockpit (yes I am sinking that low) and discovered for myself how dumbed down it is... It's really just Space Invader ported to 3D and dual control sticks. anyhoo... even in an adult-oriented arcade, Mech Warrior is still configured to play out a mission in less than 5 minutes. Arcades have to deliver both quick death (to consume player's coins) and quick kills (to encourage the defeated players to insert more coins). Hopefully a new type of game could emerge that not only improve the display/cockpit but also make the game more realistic and challenging. Allowing for time compression, a mission should still play out in 10-30 minutes. And there should be massive missions (Odessa, A Boa Qu) that lasts 5 hours (BYOD - bring your own diaper). -- Dr. Core -------------------------------------------------- The Gundam Mailing List MK-II [email protected] Archives: http://www.gundam.com/gml Help: Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with this in the BODY: help list
